Description
The Chinese Panda Series is produced each year in both silver and gold, allowing collectors the choice of precious metal that best fits their budget. With the exception of 2001 and 2002, the Chinese Panda series changes its reverse design annually, depicting a different panda for each year. Collectors anxiously wait for the new design to be released but this year, it’s not just a new design to look forward to! Adhering to the metric system, the People’s Republic of China not only changed the reverse design, but also changed the weight from one ounce to 30 grams.
The 2016 Chinese Silver Panda is simultaneously a continuation of the official bullion coin of China series, and the start of a new weight system. Collectors can still look forward to a proof-like design on both the obverse and reverse.
The Chinese Mint is the production facility of all Chinese Silver Panda coins. While its primary facility is the Shanghai Mint, the coins have no mint marks and could also be produced at Shenyang or Shenzhen.
