Description
The Canadian Antelope silver coin was the fifth installment to RCM’s Wildlife series and was the first to be released for the year 2013. It was actually issued in September of 2012 but carries the date for 2013. The Wildlife series was created by the infamous Royal Canadian Mint, who is a constant game changer when it comes to producing bullion products. The Wildlife series invoked a creative thought, at the RCM, to start minting smaller coin collections, instead of the 30 year old Silver Maple Leaf series. RCM decided that the Wildlife series would be comprised of 6 endangered species’ designs and two designs would be minted a year. The RCM also wanted to ignite a strong desire right off the bat, for this series, among collectors and investors. Each design that was minted, only 1,000,000 coins would be produced in that design. The consumer’s response to this collection was exactly what the RCM needed to keep producing smaller coin series.
The 2013 Antelope is guaranteed to weigh one ounce of .9999 pure silver and is in excellent BU condition. Unlike the first 4 coins, the 2013 Antelope and Wood Bison are engraved by mint engraver, Emily Damstra. The first 3 silver coins of the Wildlife Series are of fierce predators so it only makes sense to have the last 3 coins being of the meek variety.
