Description

Each 1/2 oz Varied Year Austrian Gold Philharmonic Coin in this product listing is available to you in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. The coins in the 1/2 oz gold weight come with protective plastic flips for individual coins or acrylic tubes for multiples of 10 gold coins.

The Austrian Philharmonic Series launched in 1989 with only two weights available. Those 1 oz and 1/4 oz gold coins were available as the only options from 1989 to 1991. In 1991, the first addition to the gold series was the 1/10 oz gold coin. The 1/4 oz gold coins were not introduced until 1994. The next coin was not released until 2014 when the 1/25 oz gold coin that was originally intended only for one-time release on the 25th anniversary of the series became an annual release.

The pipe organ from the Musikverein is found on the obverse side of the Austrian Gold Philharmonic Coins. The design was created in 1989 by Thomas Pesendorfer and features an image of the large pipe organ as seen within the Golden Concert Hall, the primary performance hall within the Musikverein.

A collection of musical instruments feature on the reverse of the 1/2 oz Gold Philharmonic Coins. This field includes images of the cello, four violins, a harp, a bassoon, and a French horn. This design also came from Pesendorfer and has featured on the reverse of all coins in the series since 1989.
