The coins in the series originally featured .917 gold content, otherwise known as 22-karat gold. This occurred from 1987 to 2012. Starting in 2013, the Royal Mint of England increased the gold content to .9999 pure gold (24-karat).

The reverse side of the British Gold Britannia Coins features the same design of Britannia for all releases. Created by Philip Nathan, it depicts Britannia standing at the coast with a shield in one hand, a trident to control the seas in the other, and a Corinthian helmet upon her head.
On the obverse of 1/10 oz British Gold Britannia Coins in this listing features Queen Elizabeth II’s portrait. However, depending upon the year of issue you could receive one of three different designs. The Raphael Maklouf design was in use from 1984 to 1997 and Ian Rank-Broadley’s fourth-generation portrait from 1998 to 2015. Starting in 2016, the Royal Mint rolled out a new fifth-generation portrait from Jody Clark. Since mid-2023, the coins have featured King Charles III.
