One of the first precious metal refiners in Switzerland, Valcambi Suisse started out as Valori and Cambi in the year 1961. Eventually, they merged with the renowned Credit Suisse, changing their name to Valcambi Suisse. As of now, Global Gold Refineries Ltd. holds the majority stake in Valcambi Suisse. Moreover, according to the last recorded statistics in 2015, Valcambi Suisse was the world’s largest refinery establishment. It is known for refining precious metals like gold, silver, platinum and palladium and manufacturing coins, bars, and medals out of them.
Palladium is a metal very similar in appearance to platinum. This should be no surprise when you learn that palladium is part of the platinum precious metals group along with platinum, rhodium, ruthenium, iridium, and osmium. Palladium shares many chemical properties with each of these metals, but is the least dense and has the lowest melting point of all metals from the group.
